Community Church - Colorado City, Colorado
One such church is Valley
Community Church in Colorado City, Colorado pastored by Rev. Dan and Sarah
Carlson, long time friends of ours. Dan served for many years as an Army
chaplain. Yvonne and I were invited to minister in their church after an
FCMM conference in Colorado Springs in the spring of 2005. The weather
was warm and sunny for the conference, the grass was green, and the birds
were singing in Colorado Springs and for the drive south to Colorado City
on Friday. Then Sunday morning it began to snow and continued snowing all
night and into Monday. The weather and road conditions were so bad that
there was a fifty car pile-up on Interstate 25. We were snowed in - for
three days! But it was beautiful! The snow on the mountain ouside Dan and
Sarah's back door was breathtaking. Dan and Sarah's home was warm and cozy,
and the fellowship delightful! I even learned how to drive a snow plow
(well, almost).
Valley Community Church is
located 64 miles south of Fort Carson, Colorado on Interstate 25. If you're
stationed at Fort Carson and don't mind a bit of a drive, Valley Community
is a really loving, family church that is well worth the drive!

We had breakfast and
coffee at this rustic resort at the foot of the mountains. A place where
pastor Dan meets with local residents for coffee once a week.
