Every one of you have been strategically positioned by God to
reach the unsaved people around you!
Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit
comes on you; and you will BE my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea
and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
1. Being a witness is different than “doing” witnessing.
Being a witness involves your entire lifestyle.
The question is not “Are you a witness?”
The question is: “What kind of a witness are you?”
2. Your “Sphere of Influence”
-
Jerusalem (Your Town)
-
Judea (Your State)
-
Samaria (Your Country)
-
Uttermost parts of the earth
Everyone has a “sphere of influence” of 250 people!
Andrew and Simon Peter
John 1:40-42
“Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of
the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first
thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found
the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus
looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You will be called
Cephas" (which, when translated, is Peter).”
· Andrew was one of the first to follow Jesus.
· The first thing Andrew did was find his brother Peter and
bring him to Jesus.
Philip and Nathanael
John 1:43-46
“The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee.
Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me." Philip, like Andrew and Peter,
was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We
have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets
also wrote-- Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." "Nazareth! Can anything
good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip.”
· Jesus called Philip.
· Philip found Nathaneal and brought him to Jesus.
The Woman At The Well
John 4:28-30
“Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went
back to the town and said to the people, "Come, see a man who told me everything
I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" They came out of the town and made
their way toward him.”
· The woman at the well met Jesus.
· She immediately went into town and told the people where
she lived about Jesus.
The Samaritans
John 4:39-42
“Many of the Samaritans from that town
believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me everything
I ever did." So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay
with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became
believers. They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of
what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man
really is the Savior of the world."
· Many believed in Jesus because of her testimony.
· Then many more believed after they heard him for themselves.
The Garasene Demoniac
Luke 8:26-40
“...They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes,
which is across the lake from Galilee. When Jesus stepped ashore, he was
met by a demon-possessed man from the town...Jesus had commanded the evil
spirit to come out of the man...When the demons came out of the man, they
went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake
and was drowned...Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked
Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into
the boat and left. The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to
go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, "Return home and tell how
much God has done for you." So the man went away and told all over town
how much Jesus had done for him. Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed
him, for they were all expecting him.”
· Jesus cast the legion out of the demoniac in Garasene
· The people in the town were so frightened they pleaded with
Jesus to leave
· The delivered man begged Jesus to let him to go with Him.
· Jesus sent the man back to be a witness to his family and
community.
· The man shared HIS STORY with everyone!
· When Jesus came back to that town the people were waiting
to receive Him!
God doesn’t expect us to reach the whole world for Christ.
He doesn’t even expect us to reach our whole city for Christ.
But He DOES expect us to reach some of the people we know in our
“Sphere of Influence” for Christ!
3. Leaving our “Comfort Zones”
1 Corinthians 9:19-23
“Though I am free and belong to no man, I make
myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became
like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under
the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under
the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law
(though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as
to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the
weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means
I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may
share in its blessings.”
Two years after becoming a Christian the average person has
no more close non-believing friends!
-
Take the list of 5 unsaved people you developed earlier that you will
be praying over.
-
Think of ways to develop a relationship with these five people.
-
When you are in prayer for them, if you think of something to do for
or with them, do it!
-
Give them tapes, tracts, books, etc. in their areas of need or interest.
Take the initiative to reach out to them.
