Philemon 1:6

“I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.”

In this lesson we discuss building of an army of personal witnesses for Jesus Christ. Using David’s establishment of the ‘Army of God’ in the book of Chronicles as a framework for this discussion, we draw parallels and develop principles which you can apply in your life as a Christian witnesses.

3 Benefits of Enlisting As A Soul Winner In The Army of God

1. Personal Spiritual Growth and Power!

Q: Do you feel stagnant in your spiritual life?

Q: Does Christianity seem boring or not really relevant in your life?

As you witness, your faith is honed like a knife being sharpened by a stone.

When you share your faith with someone who is not a Christian and they challenge what you say it makes you stronger!

When you begin teaching someone, that you’ve lead to the Lord, the basics of the faith it makes you stronger!

What do you do when someone you talk to makes fun of what you believe?

What do you do when someone is sick?

Do you offer to pray for them and believe God will heal them?

Do you really believe people who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Hell?

Having your faith challenged by a Non-Christian will make you take a hard look at what you really believe!

This is the training Paul referred to when he wrote:

Hebrews 5:12-14

“In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”

1 Corinthians 9:25-27

“Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

2. Personal Significance and Value.

Down in the secret depths of your heart have you have ever wanted to do something REALLY GREAT in your life?

To do something REALLY SIGNIFICANT?

To really have your lives COUNT for something?

To really MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the world?

Catching a vision of God’s heart for the lost and working together with Him is the most significant thing you could ever achieve!
God tells us how He views people who win others to Christ:

Proverbs 11:30

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise”
You Are A Priest!
Everyone who receives Christ as their personal Savior becomes a PRIEST in God’s kingdom!

1 Peter 2:4-5

“As you come to him, the living Stone-- rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-- you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

God is building us into a holy priesthood!

As priests in the kingdom of God we offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God.

1 Pet 2:9-10

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that YOU may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

God says we are a royal priesthood!

We are to declare the praises of God - to a lost and dying world!

When we receive Jesus as our personal Savior we are given the challenge of sharing Him with others so they can experience His love and forgiveness too.

3. Personal Impact In Someone Else’s Life.

You can have tremendous impact in the lives of the people who you know and love.

When you lead someone to Christ it radically changes their lives here on earth as well as their eternal destiny!

2 Corinthians 5:11

“Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.”

Our own relationship with Jesus qualifies us to persuade others

2 Corinthians 5:14-15

"For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”

Jesus’ love compels us to persuade others

Q: Does Christ’s love compel you to share your faith with those around you?

Q: Do your words and actions prove you are living for Jesus and not yourself?

(I’m too embarrassed to talk about Christ; They will reject me; They will laugh at me)

2 Corinthians 5:17-18

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them.”

God gave us the ministry of reconciliation

2 Corinthians 5:19

“And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation”

God committed the message of reconciliation to us

2 Corinthians 5:20

“We are therefore Christ's ambassadors...”

God has made us Christ’s ambassadors

2 Corinthians 5:20

“...as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.”

God makes His appeal through us.
Money, power, possessions, and earthly accomplishments will be left behind when we die. We will take people we lead to Christ with us to heaven!
