When
you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart, whether it was at a public
evangelistic crusade or alone in the privacy of your own home, every sin
you ever committed was forgiven!
Sin
produces guilt
As
a result or our sinful lives most of us walk around with an enormous load
of guilt. We do all sorts of things to ease the pain of that guilt, but
nothing works. One of the most beautiful things about asking Jesus to come
into our hearts is His forgiveness! We no longer have to carry the horrible
weight of guilt on our shoulders.
Psalm
103:1-18
"Praise
the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name - who forgives
all your
sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and
crowns you with love and compassion...The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he
harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay
us according to our iniquities...As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are
formed, he remembers that we are dust...But from everlasting to everlasting
the LORD's love is with those who fear him...with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.”
-
God forgives
all
our sins!
-
God does
not treat us as our sins deserve.
-
God loves
those who fear Him and keep His covenant and obey His precepts.
Your sins, which
were stained red, God made white!
Isaiah
1:18
"Come
now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like
scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”
Jeremiah
33:8
"I
will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will
forgive all their sins of rebellion against me."
-
God forgave
your sin (attitudes).
-
God forgave
your sins of rebellion (acts).
God got rid of your
sins!
Psalm
103:11-12
"For
as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those
who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed
our transgressions from
us."
Micah
7:18-19
“Who
is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives...You do not stay angry
forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us;
you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the
depths of the sea.”
You received God’s
forgiveness through faith in Jesus!
John
14:6
“...I
am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me.”
I
John 1:8-10
“If
we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in
us. IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, he is faithful and just and will forgive
us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have
not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our
lives.”
Acts
26:15-18
Jesus
sent the Apostle Paul to the Gentiles
"to
open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power
of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins...'
Colossians
1:13-14
“For
he [Jesus] has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us
into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have...the forgiveness
of sins.”
Jesus’ blood paid
for your forgiveness!
Hebrews
9:22
“In
fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and
without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”
Matthew
26:26-28
"While
they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave
it to his disciples,
saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, gave thanks
and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my
blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness
of sins.”
Ephesians
1:7-8
"In
him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance
with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and
understanding."
Your future forgiveness
depends on your forgiving others!
Matthew
6:12-15
“The Lord’s
Prayer”
“Forgive
us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.' For if you forgive men when
they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if
you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
If
we don’t forgive others who sin against us God won’t forgive us when we
come to Him. We must forgive others!
You may ask, “How
often Lord, do I have to forgive others?”
Matthew
18:21-22
Then
Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my
brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I
tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times."
This
means we need to keep on forgiving!
When
our relationship with Jesus is right He works to make our relationships
with those around us right too!
