When
you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart, whether it was at a public
evangelistic crusade or alone in the privacy of your own home, you entered
the family of God.

Revelation
3:20 |
"Here
I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens
the door, I will come in and eat [have fellowship] with him, and he with
me."
There
are four important things to see in this verse:
-
Jesus
is talking about the door to your heart.
-
Jesus
knocked on that door. He didn’t force Himself into your life.
-
Jesus
promised to come in when the door was opened.
-
Jesus
promised He would have fellowship with you.
Just as
you respond and open the door when someone comes to your home to visit,
You responded to Jesus’ voice and opened the door of your heart and invited
Him in.

Ephesians
3:16-19 |
"I
pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through
his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love
may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long
and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses
knowledge-- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of
God."
Now
it is important for you to be ROOTED and ESTABLISHED in your
faith in Christ's love. As you grow in your new relationship with God you
will understand the love of Christ more fully and your life will be filled
with more and more of God.

You Became
A Child Of God!
As a result
of inviting Jesus into your heart you
BECAME a child of God. You
were not a child of God before! Many people think that just because
they are human beings that they are children of God. According to the Bible
that is not true! |

John
1:12-13 |
"Yet
to all who received him [Jesus Christ], to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become children of God--children born
not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but
born of God."
Becoming
a child of God is not:
-
Like becoming
a human child who is descended from certain ancestors.
-
Like being
adopted through a legal decision in a court of law.
-
Like being
born through the natural physical process between a husband and wife.
It is
a SPIRITUAL birth! But it is just as real as your physical birth!

John 3:1-2 |
"How
great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called
children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not
know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children
of God..."
There
are four things you need to see in these verses:
-
God loves
you!
-
He is
not ashamed to call you His child.
-
And that
is exactly what you are - God's child!
-
The world
will think you are different.

Jesus
described this spiritual birth to Nicodemus:

John
3:1-8 |
“Now
there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish
ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you
are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous
signs you are doing if God were not with him." In reply Jesus declared,
"I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born
again." "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely
he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!" Jesus
answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless
he is born of water AND the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the
Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying,
'You must be born again.' The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear
its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.
So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
Just
as a person has to be born physically to be alive physically, a person
must be “born spiritually” to be alive spiritually. When Jesus refers to
being “born of water” He is talking about the water of the womb; referring
to physical birth. That is also what He means when He says “flesh gives
birth to flesh.” When He refers to being born “again” He
is talking about being born spiritually. This is being “born of the Spirit.”
Just as He said flesh gave birth to flesh He said “the Spirit gives birth
to spirit.” Your spiritual birth is just as real as your physical birth
was, even though you and others can’t see it any more than you can see
the wind. But just like you can see the results of the wind's presence,
you can see the results of the presence of Jesus Christ in a person's life
after they are born spiritually!
You Know,
In Your Spirit, You Are God's Child
When
a person is truly born spiritually they know it inside because the Holy
Spirit witnesses with their own spirit that they are children of God. |

Romans
8:13-16 |
“...you
received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."The Spirit
himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.”
You
can cry out to God “Abba, Father” which means something like “daddy”. It
is a term of endearment and shows how close your relationship with God
is. You can count on God to be there for you whenever you call on Him!

Your Life
Changes!
When
you accepted Jesus as your Savior your life actually changed. Your old
"self" is gone. You are a totally new person in God's eyes! |

"Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new
has come!"

Philippians
2:14-16 |
“Do
everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless
and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation,
in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word
of life...”
 |
Since
Jesus now lives in you and you are God’s child, a real change has taken
place in your life. You should live in such a way that people can see the
difference in your life.
God
intends our lives will shine out as examples of love, and forgiveness,
and goodness, in a world filled with hate and revenge and evil! |

John 3:2-3 |
“Dear
friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been
made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for
we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies
himself, just as he is pure.”
When
Jesus comes back, you will be like Him! So, with God’s help, purify
yourself! |
